If you are planning to delete your Orkut profile, I would recommend NOT to do so. There is not a single valid reason that you can show me for your account deletion. If you are concerned about privacy issues and want to get removed from Orkut database for the same, you need to know how to protect privacy on Orkut first. If you don’t get enough time to use your Orkut profile and hence want to delete your profile, let me tell you that Orkut don’t penalize for inactivity. You can comeback anytime, even after years and start using your Orkut profile as before. But if you have finally decided to get rid of Orkut and delete your account, read the following four points that you must follow before deleting your Orkut account.
1. Inform Orkut Friends First : Send scrap to all friends about your decision and let them know that you are going to delete your profile. Since they are your friends, it’s your responsibility to let them know your final good bye.
2. Backup Orkut Friends List : After account deletion, you won’t get any chance to find your Orkut friend’s contact addresses. So, back up Orkut friend’s contact details before deleting your account.
3. Transfer Communities : If you have created any communities, transfer them to someone before removing your profile. You have created those communities yourself and those took decent time to groom. Would you like to leave them as orphans?
4. Check Messages : You might have some important messages in your Orkut message box. Double check all messages so that you don’t miss any important message.
The above steps should be a MUST TO DO before deleting your Orkut account. You should look at other Orkut features as well and see if you have forgotten anything. After account removal, you won’t be able to restore your profile, so think twice before pressing “Delete my Account” button.

All your friend remains intact, but few times you get wrong statistics like you said. I would recommended you just to avoid this

I had to delete my orkut profile as my profile was being used by someone else. He/she used to change my ‘about me’ and all my profile informations. Last of all, my google accounts login password was also changed. That day I was compelled to delete my orkut profile as it could get me into severe problems.
@ Rajeev : yup, I can understand your problem. There are some sick minded people who always try to harm others. But you can always make a new orkut account and this time keep your account informations safe from those hackers
