There are people who complain that Orkut does not have any feature to show current online friends. But let me tell you that Orkut has integrated online friends feature since it’s launch and it’s pretty possible to know who is online or offline on Orkut. I know, this post is not one of those special tricks, but this will help those newbies who find it very difficult to know if their friends are currently logged in or logged out.
Orkut shows 9 of your friend’s profile on the right side of your homepage and that lists changes every now and then. Do you know why Orkut displays those pictures in every profile? Orkut displays those 9 profile pictures just to tell you that those 9 profiles are currently online. It keeps them in order of their last online activity.
Though this is not accurate (if someone clears his browser cookies, he will go offline in Orkut’s eye), this will give us the best possible statistics about our online friends on Orkut. To view the complete list of your online friends in the last activity order, you can click on “View all” link (see that arrow mark in the screenshot).
Remember that clicking on “Friends” link on the top of your page will display the list of all your friends in alphabetical order while clicking on “View all“ will list all your friends in last login or activity order (this shows the list of approved friends only).

Once you are logged in, you can see a list of few friends in a three row/column box. These profiles are shortlisted according to their last login records, but no one can guarantee if it’s accurate or not. After the integration of Gtalk and Orkut, a small blue dot displays the current online status, but if your friend is not signed into chat, you can’t judge that also. To make it short, online friends feature is not accurate and Orkut engineers need to work on it.
As of now, this is the one and only way to track and know who is online on Orkut from your friends list. Else, pick up your phone, make him a call, ask about his online status and get sure

is der any trick to block a specified friend in visitng my account.
@ Karthik : Yes, you can block anyone from accessing your Orkut. Simply navigate to that person’s profile and click on Ignore User.

@ Karthik : You have to remove that friend from your list in order to block him accessing your scraps, albums etc. There is no such options available to block someone from accessing your scraps/photos, while he is in your friends list.
