How to Control Spam Activites in Orkut Communites

If you are an Orkut community owner, you can feel the headache of spamming activities in communities. Using different spamming tools like, Orkut poll flooder, Orkut topic flooder etc, spammers can create hundreds of topics in your communities, making your community a spam center. Eventually it becomes very hard for community owners and moderators to manage a community full of spam topics.

In general, people does not like to join spam communities and hence spam communities face a sharp decline as far as new member joining is concerned. Even the existing community members find the the community worthless as the community owners or moderators are doing nothing to control spam and they prefer to unjoin the community.

Here is a way to control any kind of spamming activity in your community. Recently, keeping these spam activities in view, Orkut started a new privacy feature for community owners. Community owners can always restrict community members from making new topics or polls. Only Orkut owner and moderators will have the power to make new topics or polls.

Stop people from spamming in Orkut communities by allowing only moderators and owners to create topics and polls

To block members from making polls or new topics, follow these steps :

  1. Login to your Orkut account
  2. Navigate to your Orkut community >> Edit Profile
  3. Tick the option Only owners and moderators can create forum topics
  4. Tick another option Only owner and moderators can create polls
  5. You are done

That’s it. Now none of your members will be able to create polls or topics, preventing any possibility of spam activity in your community. This will only prevent new members from creating new topics, but they will be able to participate in your Orkut community topics by leaving replies to your topics as usual.
