Orkut Power User – Gaurav Dua
From today, we are adding a special Orkut Power Users section on Darkorkut.com. Orkut Power Users section will try to highlight some potential Orkut users without whom you might have been using a tasteless Orkut. I will try at my level best to find those power users (some known & some unknown) and have few words with them. Since most of us don’t get opportunities to have close chat sessions with them, I will try this on behalf of all Orkut fans (including their fans) and will throw some questions at them. My bucket of questions will have some personal, some professional, few funny and few bullshit (at least they think so 
) questions that those Power Users need to answer. This section will reveal their inner personality and some unknown facts, you might have been wanted to know! Presently I’m planning to update this section every Saturday.
So, it’s time to introduce first ever Orkut Power User on Darkorkut and it’s Gaurav Dua. Gaurav Dua, running in his early twenties is from Jammu & Kashmir (India). He belongs to a business family and currently planning to do his MBA. And yes, he is the man behind OrkutPlus.net. OrkutPlus is one of those most popular Orkut tutorials sites, dedicated to help people with it’s larger list of Orkut tricks, hacks, softwares etc. Now Gaurav has also taken part in developing Orkut applications (One thing I love about his applications is less ads 
). OrkutPlus’s quality, honesty and impact brought him huge success and now OP is ruling their within Top 60K (at the time of writing this post) sites of the world. I believe, Gaurav has it all to make it to the Top and I wish him all the luck 
While approaching him for the interview, I had two things in mind. First one was “Should I highlight similar sites on DarkOrkut?”. Highlighting similar sites on DarkOrkut will divert my readers to those sites and I may face a traffic decline. But on the other hand, I thought like, why should not I refer people to other sites if they are having some valuable contents, after all we are here to make Orkut life easier. Finally, I decided to move ahead, start Orkut Power Users section and promote those Orkut gems. Second question in my mind was if Gaurav will give me time! Since Darkorkut is pretty new and even we (Me & Gaurav) were not known to each other, I was in doubt. But I was surprised to see his email, it was saying, “Yes”. Thanks Gaurav
So, here is the e-interview with Mr. Gaurav Dua.
Bapun : Hello Gaurav and thanks for your time.
Gaurav : Pleasure! To Add, Since I am on a Short Vacation, this couldn’t have come at a better time
Bapun : What would you say if I ask about a small intro…
Gaurav : 21, Businessman, Webmaster, Student. Very Hardworking and Equally Ambitious.
Bapun : What have you eaten today? (I’m just trying to catch your mood from your food menu)
Gaurav : Quite a Variety of Kebabs courtesy ‘The Kebab factory’. (PS – I am a Big Time Foodie) 
Bapun : What have you done today (till now)?
Gaurav : Had a ball with Cousins. Tantalized by Tastebuds. Planned my Schedule for a Late Night Internet Session.
Bapun : What are you planning to do today (untill vodka shows it colours )?
Gaurav : Probably a Monopoly Gaming Session with Cousins. Later Tonight, A heavy session to concenterate on a couple of ideas which are expected to be transformed into Official Orkut Apps.
Bapun : Do you consider yourself friendly?
Gaurav : I am generally reserved. Before you get it wrong, let me clarify by adding – I am extremely humble and respectful to everyone. By stating that I am a bit reserved, I mean I dont get out of my shell that quickly unless I sense positive vibes from the person at the other end. Since I have been brought up with many Cousins, I never feel the need of making more and more friends. I do have some very good friends. They are a few, but they are really special.
Bapun : Few people say on forums that Gaurav is having a big attitude and bla bla bla… Your take on this?
Gaurav : I Respect their Opinion but I personally would call it an ‘incorrect assumption’. I called it an ‘Assumption’ because they do not even know me personally.
Bapun : You are on Orkut since?
Gaurav : Feb 2006.
Bapun : Your first friend on Orkut? (Just to test your memory)
Gaurav : (Guessing…) It has to be one of my cousins who introduced me to orkut.
Bapun : How OrkutPlus happened?
Gaurav : It may sound pretty crazy but I started using orkut after a month of starting Orkut Plus!. Damn! First few posts were not even tested and i didn’t even know how to use those weird looking special characters which i today know as Javascript Snippets. Find it weird? Likewise!
Bapun : Do you have any helping hands on OrkutPlus?
Gaurav : Yes! I have Gautam Gupta. He is our Coder and a Very Important part of Orkut Plus!
Bapun : How many hours do you work on Orkut Plus everyday?
Gaurav : Two or three years back, I usually invested 12-14 hours every day to get what I really wanted. Squashed my brain to discover how stuff works. 3 years down the lane, Seeing my future in my Family Business, I have reduced my online workload to a 30% that would account to 2-3 hours, 4 days a week.
Bapun : Any email/scrap/message from a OrkutPlus fan that excites you, even today?
Gaurav : Yeah! Every single piece of text appreciating Orkut Plus! inspires me. I feel so thankful everytime.
Bapun : How did you manage to bring OP to 60K Alexa?
Gaurav : I may never know the exact circumstances, but I still feel it was the first ever comment on Orkut Plus! by Darnell Clayton (insideorkut.com) that changed Orkut Plus! forever. Starting Orkut Plus! on blogger (a free blogging platform by Google) did a world of good with SEO which was Google’s way to reward sites with original content. Our Exclusive Orkut Tools too gave a great push to our rankings but I still believe we are way too far behind my aim of getting into top 20,000.
Bapun : You have developed several Orkut tools in past. What’s coming in future?
Gaurav : We will launch a massive range of orkut applications. Actually, we just got our first orkut application approved and it’s already there in the app directory.
Bapun : Where do you see OrkutPlus after 2 years?
Gaurav : Still Going Very Strong. Still The Best Orkut Blog with the Best orkut Tools and Most number of Orkut Applications in the App Directory.
Bapun : If someone offers you $100K for OrkutPlus, what would be your answer?
Gaurav : That Would Sum up to Rs 5 Million – Hell yeah! I’ll Take It..
Bapun : Are you planning to spread your reach to other social networks also?
Gaurav : I am pretty involved in my Family Business plus my MBA session is scheduled to start this summer. I would have loved to start a similar chain of sites for Facebook, Myspace and Hi5 but i wont be getting much time in near future thus would be unjustful to the readers.
Bapun : What your parents have to say on OrkutPlus? Do they visit your site?
Gaurav : They are Proud of Me! Well..No. They dont visit my site since Orkut isn’t the niche they are interested in. But they view it when I insist. They are fond of my pay cheques though.
Bapun : Since OrkutPlus stands high today, have you ever been got noticed and recognized by someone 
somewhere?
Gaurav : Yeah! It happened twice. Once, in Chandigarh Sector 17. A voice coming from behind calling ‘Gaurav’ in a very low tone. When i turned around, A Guy stood still, asked if I was the one who owned Orkut Plus!. Exiced me, responded with a prompt reply and then ther came the appreciation, and finally that sentence – ‘So..No way to see locked photos?’. No Kidding! It was a signature day in my life. Second time, it happened at Ansal Plaza, New Delhi. It was just a brief intro, a quick hand shake and appreciation which was accepted with humility.
Bapun : If you were not associated with OrkutPlus….?
Gaurav : Still be a Webmaster.
Bapun : Are you going to make blogging your profession?
Gaurav : No. I have bigger things to look forward to.
Bapun : What if your Orkut account gets hacked one day?
Gaurav : Would Hurt. But what the heck – Atleast No One Will Die…
Bapun : What are your future plans with OrkutPlus?
Gaurav : In near future, a Template Upgrade, Loads of Official Orkut Apps and taking our Existing Orkut Tools to the next level.

Gaurav is hardworking and determined. There are people who make sites for the shake of fame or money, but how many of them would care to give 12-14 hours/day?
